Yay!! A really good OT appointment :-)

Dd3 had her sensory assessment today, the OT's were great they had read all the info I had given them and agreed that she does have sensory dysfunction. They made some recommendations including a deep pressure programme and brushing.

They are going to continue to offer support to school and support her through transition into secondary.

I am looking forward to getting their report. I was very impressed by them and found them very understanding and supportive.

Just wanted to share a good experience

That's wonderful! It will be interesting to see how the body brushing goes. DD1 was sent absolutely WILD on it - quite the opposite of the intended effect. Wierd.

Well I have just tried the brushing and apart from being abit giggly she was ok. She likes the deep joint pressure thing they showed me

She was a star during the appointment! She rocked her chair, wrapped her legs round the legs of the chair and chewed her t shirt! And I hadnt primed her

I am just glad it has been recognised now instead of me just being over fussy!!

Can someone tell me what brushing involves? It was mentioned briefly to me today and I don't know what the heck it is and stupidly, didn't ask.

Literally brushing the arms, legs and back using a surgical scrubbing brush. There are some demos on you tube.

It is supposed to desensitise the child to touch I think. The OT's think it could help Dd3 with her clothing issues and nail cutting.
