a relaxing sensory room for dd1. she is 8 and has aspergers and adhd. we are looking at moving house soon, and hopefully she will have her own bedroom. it is likely to be fairly small but i want to make it nice for her. the ideas i have so far are a net fairy light ceiling with lots of mozzy nets etc to tent it, a big bubble lamp, a fluffy carpet, lots of softness and lights so she has somewhere to go and chill. anyone else got any good ideas please? budget will be quite small so trying to design it myself at minimal cost.

Do you have a rag market nearby, or a market that sells fabric? They're great for getting cheap netty/chiffony fabrics really cheap (was about £1 per metre last time I went) in all sorts of colours.

Some fleecy blankets in different colours/patterns?

i think i want to keep colour in the fabrics to a minimum, mostly cream/white apart from the purple carpet, soft lighting, lots of textures but not so much colour
