ds and his dx and delving deeper...

So ds is nearly 11, just gone into year 6 and is diagnosed with dcd (dyspraxia) but I'm convinced there's something else going on too.

How do I find out? Who's door do I knock on to get heard and helped?

He's driving me absolutely batshit crazy atm and I want to know if it's my patenting or something along the lines of adhd/asd (he had symptoms, I'm not just using those as a convenient excuse)

If I were you I would make a list of all the issues and give it to your GP asking them to refer you to the paediatrician. If you can also discuss any problems with the school to see what they have to say then that would be good too.

There is a huge overlap between dcd and Asd and Adhd. I agree with booby make some notes and go and ask your GP for a referral to a developmental paediatrician or camhs.

My Dd3 was diagnosed by camhs when she was 9. She also has hypermobility and today she has been diagnosed with sensory dysfunction!

Our children seem to rarely have only one area of diffuclty sadly

I also agree, make notes on the behaviour that concerns you and request a referral to see a Developmental Paediatrician who will be able to see beyond the obvious.

My 4.5 year old was initially thought to have Dyspraxia, at 3 years old but has just now received his official diagnosis of ASD. In addition, he has some hyperactive-ness (if that is a word), for which no diagnosis has been made but I'm in the process of getting a referral to look at this too.

As Ineedmorepatience says, the overlaps are considerable and it's always best to seek more professional help in getting clarity.
