How do I teach 7yo to swallow a pill?

Just got ds1 some supplements. He is dyspraxic and has some attention problems too.

He is going on 8 (in Nov) and we tried today to swallow a small one, but he couldn't do it - he's not the most co-ordinated, but I guess it is not easy for anyone to learn how to swallow a pill. In the end I hid in breakfast (luckily it didn't taste bad). The other one is a fish oil capsule that I will certainly not be able to hide anywhere so I wondered if you have any tips on how to teach it, or how long it may take to learn.

Ds takes his pill with a spoonful of honey, so kind of like syrupy medicine.

Keep practicing , just takes time , make sure they got plenty of fluid to swallow with . My son had to take anti malaria tablets for holidays from six and managed by second holiday to swallow them without a problem . Just takes them a couple of weeks to get the art of swallowing them . He use to then say to gp that he didn't need liquid he could have tablets. Gp still always gave him liquids till he was ten , gp then suddenly decided he was old enough to have tablets. My son gets a lot of ear infections.

Practice - but with jelly beans or tic tacs or some such so if they gag too many times they can chew it and swallow.
Then move on to the real things as sometimes they loose their coat if you can't swallow first time and taste disgusting

Thanks so much. I bought some apple juice too which should help disguise taste. The balls of bread and tic tacs is a great idea to practice on. And the honey on a spoon until he gets it.
