Epilepsy and ASD

Hello I havent posted for a while, but wondered whether there were any mums with children with autistic spectrum disorder and epilepsy.

My 5yr old daughter developed epilepsy almost 18 months ago, and was also diagnosed with ASD around the same time. She is currently on meds for the epilepsy which arent fully controlling the seizures, so they are having to add another med to see if this has better control.

She has also just changed schools from mainstream to a resource unit, this is only her second week so everything is still very new, just hoping it works out ok.

Would really like to chat to any mums in similar situation especially if in London area, as there are no real support groups for parents with kids with epilepsy and ASD, all (seems to be more for adults).

hope you find someone. my dd has cp and epilepsy and it is a nightmare. every time she grows they have to up the dosage.

Have you tried talking to Autism London? They may be able to put you in touch with other parents. I have heard that it is not uncommon of children with ASD develop epilepsy around pre-puberty age and I know one who has (that's all I need!). Don't know of any younger ones though (not that I'm aware of anyway).

Hi, yes thats a hard combination isn't it.
My DD is 16 and she has both Autism and epilepsy.
It was the epilepsy that was most apparent as that was a feature from a few weeks old.
Please feel free to ask, share, rant or anything else for that matter.
