Getting DLA without a dx

Hi, after posting here I've just finished and sent the DLA form off re my DS (8.11). I have been entirely honest and had a massive cry as all seems so real when written down and got his after school club to fill in the bit about someone who knows the child.

I did find I had to continue on extra sheets for most of the care and being outdoors, communication bit.

Thing is we have only had the Camhs referral (I included the letter) and help at his school - which has only been set up recently after I fought. I don't have any of the information, plans for DS support yet.

I am worried that as there's no evidence as such, just the appointments and information it won't be accepted? I did include his cons peads letter re his allergies as I out on there about the medication - only because it asked but I guess the allergies and anaphylaxis do add even more care?

Will they just refuse the application or will they write for more evidence if they require it?

The will write for more evidence, if there is a cahms referral they will write to GP( if that is who referred to cahms) and probably the school. It is very unlikely they will just nil it.

Forgot to add my dd age 8 was awarded middle care and low mob with no dx, she is on the asd pathway.

That's what I'm worried about - GP referral to Camhs was refused and they tried to refer back suggesting ed pysch. It was only after I rang them and explained his difficulties and followed it up with an email as told did the clinician agree Camhs was the right service. The letter does state they have given me appointment after out telephone conversation.

I'm worried if they write to school because school have been crap and only have helped because I wouldn't let up despite the fact DS is segregated at playtimes.

DS1 didn't have a dx when he initially was awarded DLA. He has gotten one since, but I think as long as the care information they need is there, it's not a huge concern.

Ds was awarded DLA at 7 years without dx. He didn't have a statement or any practical help at school either. It depends on how you phrase your application - you need to emphasis the difference between your child and one of a similar age without his difficulties. All we had from CAMHS was appointment letters and school were hopeless with their bit, but the strength of mine counteracted all that.

You can't do anything more now so just wait and see what the outcome is. In the meantime, read up on the Cerebra guide so you'll be prepared for a reconsideration request if it's necessary.

Had a text today to say they've received the form and will take up to 8 weeks to process.

Good to know that even without a dx, if its refused I can appeal and just make the wording clearer to get my point across. triggle has been on a thread about my DS with me - I'm sure she can vouch for the fact his not an NT 9 yo!!!
