ASD and poor spatial awareness

Ds who has ASD at the more severe end of spectrum seems to have v poor spatial awareness. He is constantly bumping corners of tables, seems to pass through doorway leaving only v small amount of space with edges and is generally v clumsy. It is frankly driving me mad and I am despairing at the amount of bruises he has on his legs and hips. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this common in children with ASD?

Ds is also at the more severe end of the spectrum and he too is always sporting loads of bruises, doorways, lamp posts and car mirrors are the usual culprits .
It doesn't help that he never looks in the direction he's walking in.i was a bit worried about the staff at school thinking I was causing the bruises but after he got 9 bump notes in his first week ( even with a fab 1to1 supervising him) they were more worried about the amounts of marks he was coming home with.
