Anyone know a friendly EP

Following my thread below about the LGO, does anyone know a friendly EP who could email/talk entirely off the record and point me in the right direction in relation to my concerns about the EP's actions?

I found Dr. Sharon Lloyd very good with any concerns I had.

We have used her and she is excellent but I thought it might be a bit cheeky to go back to her as it was a while ago.

I don't think you need one IE. The EP Code of Practice is available on the BPS site:

It's possible to work out where the EP broke the rules by reading it.

I don't think any ep would want to advise without having had the option of speaking to the original ep, as you would be asking them to judge with only one side of the story on something that could cost someone her career. That might be justified but you'd need to compliain to the regulating body (the hpc).

Thanks. The terms of the email are pretty explicit. It isn't a she said/he said situation and it is all in writing.

I wouldn't want to cost anyone their career but this needs to stop. I suppose it is just a case of having someone say, on the face of the email, is this unprofessional practice. Just so I know I am not overreacting.

As I have put on the thread, I would much rather speak to her and discuss this and find out what went on then escalate to complaints etc.

IE - what you described - quoted from the email - is unprofessional. Full stop.

And they're only quotes. Honestly, I shared it with a TA who doesn't work at school any more but who was the only person who understood DS.

The problem is that their actions are so undermining that you start to question your own abilities. If a client came to you clutching that email you would know straight away it was an unprofessional email.

You are right. Like the information guy at the Council saying 'in the scheme of things it's no big deal, or words to that effect' like I am some crazy oversensitive person.

I will see if someone will have a glance to comment at least hypothetically because if I can get no joy with the EP herself - and by that I mean an apology - I will pursue it.

Hell, the EP herself probably knows it's unprofessional.

A gentle questioning of the EP on a 'I know what you did was wrong and so do you so let's cut the crap...' basis is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

You are right. I am sure it will go something like this. I email EP, she ignores me. Then I get n out of office saying she has left.

Or she reports me to her boss

So then I would be left with the choice of making a complaint or not - again!

Well, emailed DS's EP, expresses our upset and asked her if it was appropriate to ask offending EP to meet to discuss this constructively

She is going to speak their line manager who isn't, as I was told, the nasty head of SEN.

I am sure they will tell me to get lost but at least I have tried to address this without complaints and I do think it is important for the EP to explain her actions and listen to the impact of what she did.
