Prickly heat (I think!)

My Ds is covered on any exposed parts of his body with tiny little spots I thought it may of been his hayfever as he tends to get a rash but piriton hasn't touched it, he has used a new sun cream several times for average sunny days and we have not had this problem but as the weather has gotten hotter this rash has appeared. His little ears are like cauliflowers! and he is very itchy, he isn't poorly with it just annoyed. Can anyone suggest what I can use or do if their Dc has similar?

How about PLE? www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/lighteruption.htm. I get it and agree that anti-histamine does nothing. Only thing that has worked for me is steroid cream on prescription.

Lots of cool baths and keep him out of the sun as much as is feasible. Calamine lotion is very soothing on the rash.

If he is reacting to the sunlight, more than the heat, then a lot of suncreams can make that worse. I'm currently without sun protection because I haven't found one I don't react to for a few years - and I'm fair skinned so going without if I need to be outside for long periods isn't an option.

Thanks for the replies. I gave him a cool bath last night and it seems to of gone down a little this morning although he is still complaining it itches. pannetonne just had a look at your link that is very interesting. I can't see it being the sun cream because as mentioned he has used it before so if he was a reaction surely it would have happened before. He does tend to avoid going outside when its warm because it hurts his eyes so he has only been exposed while going to/leaving school and breaktimes. My mum has bad reactions to the sun (can't remember what it's called) but she turns into a huge blister her blood literally boils she is 55 and has only just been able to go out into the sun because she has started taking beta-carateine pills for 6 months of the year when she isn't she can't even peg her washing out on a mild day. I had a look around last night at natural sun creams so will try that if it continues it's off to the doctors. Thank you again for your replies.
