ugh meltdowns

For 1.5 hours ds went off on one today,sigh. I need to persuade CAMHS to assess in these next few sessions of them helping me manage his explosive behaviour. I need an answer/confirmation as to why this is happening.

Im sorry i am no help but just to let you know your not alone. This is a daily occurrence in our house. I feel Ds is dictating our whole lives. And i feel totally useless about it. My confidence as a parent is now at rock bottom.
Don't want to take over your thread with my moaning but would love to read others advice. And again your not alone. Nobody understands only people in the same situation.

We've been dealing with this also for a very long time. Ds is 7 and has a diagnosis of ASD, specifically PDA. I would recommend The Explosive Child by Ross Greene a very useful approach for my ds.

Are you neglecting your children? Not loving them? Not spending time with them? Starving them? Abusing them?

If the answers to these questions are no then you are not a bad parent
Don't doubt yourself - channel that energy into making the professionals look like novices because they are in comparis

I'd like to say park them on CAMHS doorstep, mid meltdown, but you'd probably tear your hair out before you arrived.

Don't doubt yourself - channel that energy into making the professionals look like novices because they are in comparison to your expertise in your child. Make sure you write everything down, turn the questions back on them, because they won't have the answers to deny an assessment, they'll try but they won't

Video is an option. I'm trying to catch him at his worst atm. Will show them next time i'm there.
I got tipped off they like to do behaviour diaries so I did one for 2 months before our first appointment. She looked shocked when I handed it to her upon asking if we had done one before

I'll definately turn their questions back onto them thanks. In fact when she wrote her last letter she told me everything I had asked for and told her but gave me absolutely no feedback into their thoughts. I'll be asking her about that when I see her. She said last time he had a few asd traits (thats one way to put it) so i'll see if she's willing to confirm that again after she's spoken to her colleagues.
