What are the chances that if a preferred school named in Part 4 is now in special measures, that Sendist would order the the child be put in the school?

Depends why it's in special measures, how long it happened, what has happened subsequently. If, for instance, the school can send a witness who can say that they dispute the finding, they're appealing and have independent evidence to suggest that they will succeed, all that would help. Equally, if the school puts its hands up and admits it was bang to rights, it would help if it can say it has put in hand effective steps to deal with whatever Ofsted didn't like, and maybe that Ofsted has been back and accepts it's on the right track.

Well legally it shouldn't matter unless the issues could directly impact your child, but it would give the LA leverage if they were to produce an 'outstanding' alternative.

Thanks for these really helpful suggestions - it is for someone I know.

I think the LA will probably try the 'inefficient use of public resources' argument but all the reports are paid for already and so much work has gone into it so there is really nothing much more to lose except stress so no point in withdrawing the appeal now...

A school in special measures means that something is being done.

This is better than a simply 'adequate' school.

Many many schools in special measures have had the resources to become outstanding at the next inspection.

Has the HT been replaced with a 'super head'? If so, this is a plus.

No HT replaced yet. Report, according to friend, was quite contradictory.

Someone cynical said that special measures might be the result of too many tribunal wins by parents. It is a special school.
