having a stressful time here the last few weeks We've got our tribunal coming up for DS1 to be assessed for a statement. We were flatly refused DLA and we were generally geetting stressed out with life and the stress of caring for an autistic child and an overactive toddler.

BUT this morning I got a letter saying that our appeal letter for DLA has been looked at and we have been awarded... wait for it... HIGHER RATE!!

I'm so shocked that they refused us outright and then gave us higher rate (but I wont be complaining!)

MrsF - And plenty of baby oil too, no doubt....

btw How did I guess you'd be lurking in the laminator section? (Have a look at the title of the e-mail I've just sent you!)

Misdee...did they find his lost forms? We're still waiting too..........

misdee · 09/02/2004 10:50

they are found and are 'being looked into further'. should be a nice back payent if he gets awarded this time. because its a hidden disability they just dont seem to take it seriously.

Luckymum · 09/02/2004 19:27

So agree with you misdee.......dd's claim relates in the main to her heart condition too

misdee · 09/02/2004 20:12

its a nightmare isnt it. they just dont think it affects them so much. my dh can kinda do most things but at a much slower pace.

Misdee-I got awarded dla for me just before christmas- I know exactly what you mean about 'hidden disability'- i have 'only' got depression/anxiety and a bit of OCD- however I too can do most things but i am slower- and the other night I forgot to turn the sink tap off and the kitchen got flooded- things like this are always happening- my dh has to remind me what i'm doing half the time- he's been more supportive since i started seeing the psychologist-but sometimes he feels he cannot do anything right .
