DLA I'm in shock

I applied for DLA for my Ds (HFA) less than a week ago sent in the form a 24 he diary the NAS supplementary form and a copy of a psych report I had done privately and I just got a text message saying my child has been awarded DLA. It must be a mistake, how was it so quick. I am in shock I was ready to appeal! Obviously I am pleased as I know he deserves it. Is it normal for them to award without obtaining school or pead reports before hand. Wow is all I can say - praying it was not a message sent in error

Well done Tibet. My DS was awarded DLA without a paed report, but a few years ago. Any idea what rate?

Hi, same thing happened to me. I got a text message last week saying my child had been awarded DLA. I couldnt believe it was so quick and also that they had awarded it without checking with anyone. I had attached 4 letters as back up from ed psych, speech & language, paed, & clinical psych but I was not sure these were good enough support.

I received a payment in my bank yesterday and the award letter today.

I am still in shock.

We are the lucky ones I thought it would take months. Ds got lrm and mrc. However I sent in a diary before I knew the award had been done I sent it the afternoon of the evening I got the text so they are now looking at that they said it might change it or it might stay the same. I'm pooping myself now what if it goes to another decision maker who lowers the award! They told me not to worry and that ds was awarded for his required supervision outside and care during the night when the house is asleep my diary shows how hard it is to get through the day and the care my ds needs from morning to night so I
Don't think it will affect it. I'm such a paniker I never expected to get both mobility and care so we are so pleased although ds deserves it. I would t have bothered with the extra info had I of know our award before I posted it. Please tell me not to worry it will all be ok

That's great well done.

Dont worry it will be ok. As you say, your diary backs up what you said on the application form so no reason for them to lower the DLA payments. Did they say how long it will take for them to get back to you?

Thanks tacal. My mind is just all over the place with coping with ds, difficulties with dh and it was just so nice for one thing to be over and done with in our favour . They said it had gone to the decision maker already yesterday and they put me through to another decision maker who said she can't say for sure but it is very unlikely an award that has just been awarded will go down. They all look for the same stuff and information. Hopefully here today but surely I won't be that lucky to hear so soon twice.
Good luck to anyone else applying.
