Hello

Can we claim Carer's Allowance(3.9 yr old daughter on ASD) if both parents are working and high rate tax payers?

Thanks

I am about 4 quid a week over.

Fanjo I think you can deduct an amount for childcare or pension so could that take you under the £100 threshold?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2013 13:08

Thanks..thst is interesting. Only pay for childcare 6 weeks a year when DD is at play scheme. .must go and do the.Maths

chocnomore · 19/06/2013 13:11

Fanjo, suppose you know you can deduct 50% of childcare and pension payments.
Are you paying into a pension scheme? If not then just join. if you do pay in, then you should be able to increase your pension payments which should take you undet the £100 treshold (that is what I did -I was 7 pound abovd the treshold...)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2013 13:13

I am not..but should be :)

chocnomore · 19/06/2013 13:15

why not join and qualify for carers then Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2013 13:18

Good idea Grin

AgnesDiPesto · 19/06/2013 14:06

I think you deduct 100% of tax and NI
50% childcare for when you work
50% pension contributions
Then if under £100 per week can claim

AgnesDiPesto · 19/06/2013 14:10

Fanjo you could always ask to set your wage £4 a week less Grin or slightly reduce your hours?

chocnomore · 19/06/2013 14:10

yes, that is right, all tax and NI gets deducted

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2013 14:28

Would love to reduce hours but not possible. .boss would jump at chance to reduce wage methinks!
