Hi,
Hope everyone is well, me and my dd are both suffering from a stomach virus so we're both sitting on the couch sipping on water and having crackers as our daily meal.

Iv got so many questions that Iv been meaning to ask you ladies of expertise but I don't want to create a separate thread each time. I thought this could be a thread where random questions can be asked for all of us.

Question 1:

Did any of your children have issues with pooping? My dd has been potty trained for over a month now, but she seems to really struggle with number 2. She will ask to be put on the toilet several times saying "poo poo" but will get off after 5 secs. After numerous times of this cycle (she tip toes when she does this as well) , she will eventually go but will cry just before going.

I thought that it may just be a phase but now Im left wondering if this is some kind of sensory issue?

TIA :)

Sam

Hi. She might be straining a bit, be a bit constipated, try to increase fibre and fluid a bit, and if she continues have a chat with hv or gp. Eric website has great advice on constipation etc. Might be worth her sitting on loo with a book or toy for a few minutes so she relaxes a bit when trying to produce

Sam - We are not there yet.

However, generally, how long will she sit on the toilet for? The reason I ask is that I have been advised by my ABA team to wait till she can happily sit for 3-5 minutes before setting a wee or poo target.

Shes mastered going for a wee, so she will only sit on it when she needs it and pee straight away. Whereas I think she is scared to poop so hence asking to go toilet n then getting up again. Like thelight I thought she was constipated (and she was) so iv changed her diet, now that thats been sorted I thought she wouldnt have any more problems but thats not the case.
