Wow!!!! That's amazing! My DS is almost 4 and mostly non verbal (well he uses the first sound of a word eg. 'Ray' for 'raisin'). Was your DS completely nonverbal? Is there anything in particular that you think has helped with his speech?

Pouncer1 · 06/06/2013 19:24

Congratulations Samira

I have the same question as boobybum. Was your child completely non-verbal and anything in particular that helped?

TheLightPassenger · 07/06/2013 10:22

Thats fab news!

Emily7708 · 07/06/2013 13:15

Wow, that's amazing. My DS is 4 and virtually non verbal and I dream of this happening to us.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 07/06/2013 13:58

Great news. Smile

eggsandwich · 07/06/2013 14:24

Thats really great news! my ds is 13 years old and is still non verbal, hopefully his speech goes from strength to strength, and the fact that you can understand what he's trying to say should prevent alot of frustrated meltdowns.

theDudesmummy · 07/06/2013 14:29

That is lovely. My DS is also 4 and non-verbal apart from a few first syllables of words. We have resigned ourselves to the fact that signing may be his primary means of communication, as he is much better at that than speech, but it would be so lovely to get some speech from him.

RippingYarns · 07/06/2013 14:30

Brilliant news

samira837 · 07/06/2013 16:37

Thx everyone!! My DS started saying word last year but never took off till 2moths ago. I wish I could say that I did something special to get him to talk...but I did(as his mum I never did think this day would come) was to talk to him about thing that he liked just to get his attention!! Also got this DVD "my baby can read" don't get me wrong it's not to get him to read but for the repetison off words it will drive u crazy but they love it!!!
