IEP Question

Just received dd2's IEP. Her slowest progress is in writing (Y3 ?ASD).

She has been on a literacy intervention programme called Quest with 3 other kids in class. Since Feb. This has appeared on the new IEP. Is school right to do this or are they just filling in space?

If writing is an area of consern, and may be the limiting factor for learning (or demonstrating some learning/being able to communicate in a variety of ways) then to address this is a good idea.

If the strategy to improve writing is to use Quest ( dont know what that is, but would be interested to learn more as DS writing is poor too ) then including on IEP is approropriate.

What are the goals for writing that Quest is going to address? Are they suitably specified? How will they measure if the strategy was successful and when do they expect to see results?

Does DD have any alternative to writing herself - a scribe, use of laptop or similar device to allow for demonstration of knowledge etc.?
