Just wanted to share my news.

After years of being told to claim DLA i finally rang for a form on 7/05/13 (for my 8 year old son who has asd with sensory processing disorder)

Form was recieved by DlA on 17/05/13

Had a letter through yesterday (31/05/13) about my legal responsibilities so rang them to see if they had made a decision ( really wasnt expecting any news yet)and was told over the phone that he has been awarded hrc and lrm. So plesantly surprised that it was so quick and was awarded this first time without any problems.

I hope this encourages others to put in a claim that have been putting it off.

Excellent news!

That's really good news. I've been staring at our form for the last few weeks, finally nearly done and posting tomorrow. Dreading result. Did you fill in the bit where they ask someone who knows the child bit..is it best to have this filled out by a professional or is a relative ok? Do you think it is important to fill this out rather than leaving it blank.

That's really great news pebbles. Well done.

It should inspire me to actually start filling the form in for DS!

Pebbles, that's great news! Did you use the Cerebra guide?

Pebbles69 · 02/06/2013 15:06

Thank you everyone
Crystal star - I actually left that bit blank.

EllenJane - Yes I dd use the Cerebra guide and did go into great detail comparing care I provide for my other children compared to that of my 8 year old on

Great news! Our review for DS2 went through recently and it was pretty quick.

I got my award notice 2 weeks after sending paperwork inShock

I didnt get anyone to fill out the professional bit either but did write the name and address of our Paed and the phone number if they wanted to phone her for confirmation of details.

I found the new form much harder to fill in even though its less writing.

I didnt feel as though you could say in any detail what the issues are as there are far more tick boxes than questions so i put in every bit of paperwork and squeezed it in!

I think we are lucky we get so many reports but it doesnt help those who have very little professional input and are left to get on with it.

Quite - DS1 has regular CAMHS contact, at the moment, but apart form that, all we really had for the boys, last time we renewed, was their statements.

My dd's was also processed within 2 weeks. I left the statement bit blank too but sent in lots of reports.
