It's not the normal school nurse - it's the one who kids can go to to talk about issues feelings etc. I've got to go to the high school next door to ds junior school to see her.
I spent an hour on the phone to her last week. She was very non committal, almost dismissive at first but the more we talked I could hear her attitude change about ds
It was so nice to hear her say he sounded delightful, only one teacher (a supply teacher he had for 2 weeks) has ever said he is delightful. One teacher at parents evening described him as a little horror (she did say did we want total honesty and we said yes)
She gave me four headings and I have to make a list if things. They are communication, social interaction, obsessive, repetitive & rigid behaviour and sensory.
The more we talked I realised how many traits ds has. He's year 4. How could we have let things slip this far
We've got to put a letter together for the GP and then hope we eventually get an appt with a paed who may or may not decide to refer to CAMHS and the ASD unit. Who knows, there's no funding.
I have no idea what will happen next - so wish me luck.
