SALT provision in statement

Hi any views on SALT provision offered in son's statement. Twice termly visits from SALT and daily programme implemented by his LSA. 25 hours 1:1 offered if he stays in ms. I'm not sure about that level of SALT input but I am requesting a move to special school anyway and the provision would be different there I think. The offer is made assuming he is in ms. So am I safe to accept it? Should it be more? I have challenged other parts of the statement but his primary needs is language (he has ASD). I have focussed my response more about the requested move to special.

Please don't assume that if he attends special school all the therapy you think your ds needs will be provided. My local special school has no salt input and very little OT for those children with sensory needs.

Okay so I need to be clear that he needs that input wherever he is placed? I have queried OT input as that isn't mentioned at all but is recommended in the reports in the appendices. The SALT thing, yes in an ideal world I would want him having a weekly therapy session carried on by the LSA but realistically am I going to get that? Secretly, I am thinking that I will get that for him, funded from my pocket once he is permanently placed and I can actually get a job. Just seems a bit lame to not negotiate given it's the first draft. I feel like I should be fighting!!

I can't help feeling that, ultimately, what I organise and input myself is what is going to make the difference to him. But I am in a particularly pissy mood today.

You really need to mke sure every need that is referred to in your reports is in part 2 and is matched with appropriate provision in part 3. I would fight for getting the salt in the statement if you think you are going to need to pay for it later. I know it's very boring and I also sometimes feel like I can't be arsed with constantly battling for rubbish provision.
