CAHM'S coming to do a home visit

Dd was referred to Cahms by paediatrician, we got a letter yesterday with a date for a home visit, can anyone tell me what will happen at this visit? Will it be to meet dd and see her in her home setting etc?
I also have a couple of forms with questions on to fill out.

We're just waiting to hear from them. How long did it take from seeing the paediatrician?

We saw the pead November last year, who then referred dd so bout 5 months and appointment is in couple of weeks, it can take a long time from what I have read.

Have you been given a referral to cahms?

I would ring camhs to double check they want dd at the firs app as we've had a few camhs sessions and they don't want to see my dd at all they just want to question me about her behaviour! Tbh I don't think they have any intention of seeing dd at all, s give them a ring to double check

Gosh thats a long time! We saw the paediatrician 4 weeks ago & she refered my DS to CAMHs. I aked her what it entailed but it was the end of our appointment & was hurried along without giving us any details. She made another appointment for 4 months time for after our meeting with CAMHS so i kind of assumed it wouldn't be too long before we heard fom them.

It probably differs by area as well, I suppose it depends on how many referrals etc at that time, so you may still get yours earlier

Thank you I will call them, I have to call to confirm anyway, the appointment is in school time as well so maybe they don't want to see dd to.

I've just received the letter from them, the appointment is in August it feels a lifetime away.

Blimey August, how strange we were talking about it and the letter arrives, great you have an appointment.

I called and our home visit is with dd she does need to be here.

Is yours a home visit hally?

I know, I couldn't believe it when I opened the letter, I must have a sixth sense. I'm not sure if it's a home visit, I had to ring to confirm appointment & they said they would send me some more details in the post. I'll have to put back the paediatrician as well.

Our letter stated home visit on it, I think it because we do have issues with dd at home, so probably to see dd in her home environment etc.

How old is your dc hally and what issues are you having?

My DS is 5 & has symptoms/trait of aspergers, ADHD & dyspraxa. His behaviours tend to be worse in school but is becoming increasingly worse at home too. A lot of things were hidden under the persona of a 3 year old but now at the age he is, they stick out like a sore thumb. Whats your situation?

It's hard isn't it, although the older they get the more apparent it becomes.

Dd is 7, she has learning difficulties, dyslexia, possibly aspergers and ocd.

She struggles at school although since all the 1 to 1 lessons have been put in place she is moving along a bit more.

We do struggle at home with obsessiveness with clothes/items we also have meltdowns and huge anxiety.

Am waiting for all the reports from everyone to see what the outcome will be.

Although the paediatrician report had the above in it.

I spoke to my boss today whose daughter has been assessed under CAMHs for 10 years & was finally dx 2 months ago. She said CAMHS have been brilliant & hve given so much support over the years & have helped her & her daughter a lot. I really hope they can do the same for us. I've always felt i've coped well over the years but now i feel like i'm losing control & really need help.
