Recent diagnosis of son aged 7 as Aspergers. Also has Epilepsy. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Primary school in Cambridge? Private, special, independent or mainstream?

I have a 16 year old with high functioning ASD, we moved him from mainstream school to Gretton School in Girton, an independent school which specialises in ASD and Aspergers from 5-19 years. I would definitely recommend a viewing my son has settled so well and loves going even with his hour in the taxi each way. The staff are all lovely and really up to date with autism issues. I'm not sure if they have any students with epilepsy but definitely worth a phone call. Best of Luck.

Hi Jo 1966. Yes I have heard of Gretton School and will def take up your suggestion of visiting. How long has your son been there and what are the fees like?

He only started last September (initially our LEA would not fund him as its an out of county placement, we had started tribunal proceedings when they said they would fund him).Think the fees start off about £55,000 a year. The school is lovely, think there's only about 45 students in the school. My sons confidence has grown so much since he started there.
If your son has a statement hopefully your LEA will fund him.
