Hi Everyone,

This is my first post so please be gentle.

I have a ds with asd. DS is non verbal and on the severe side of it. We want to move house to get him the best care possible but where do i find it. I am really looking at london and maybe a place that will have the funding to increase his care and one where we wont have the expense of a tribunal case as we already went through that a couple of years ago.

DS already has a statement in place and is at school at present. Any advise would be great. Thanks.

Are you after a special needs school? If so here's a place you can look them up: www.specialneedsuk.org/findaschool.asp

If you want an ordinary school, then I'd very very strongly recommend personal recommendation. I've taught in a great supportive (sadly all-girl!) school but have heard a lot of horror stories from parents having to fight constantly for help from their schools even when the child has a statement Sad.

You could perhaps also try speaking to the NAS - maybe they could advise you? www.autism.org.uk/living-with-autism/education-and-transition.aspx

Very best of luck!

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply . We are after a special needs school but one with a good track record and good recommendation.

It might be worth trying then to speak to local support groups either via that special needs site I sent or the NAS. You might find more parents there who can recommend somewhere for you?

You could also try this site too which says it offers a guide to schools: www.specialneedsguide.co.uk/

Good luck, hope you find somewhere really nice! Smile

Do not be lured in by Queensmill or Paddock. If you can move to Thurrock in Essex, Treetops is awesome.
