seamless socks in sainsburys! ladies size only

Just thought I would let other parents who endure sock traumas that Sainsburys (large stores) have some ladies (size 4 - 7) socks in black which are seamless. They are called ultimate comfort socks, short ankle length with cushioned foot and only a knitted foot shaping rather than a full seam. £4 for pack of 3, but 25% off at present. Ds who has just got into that size (I bought them for myself originally) likes them - and that is saying something. HTH

Are they cotton?

I wouldn't mind some for myself, for whenever it actually does get too warm for my handknit socks.

I knit socks. Slowly.

I need to stock up over the summer. I have two worn out pairs, one badly felted and I've lost one! That leaves me wihth 2 decent pairs and 2 odd socks in my knitting drawer because I have second sock syndrome. And I don't know why i do slip stitch heel flaps because it's the balls of my feet and my heels that wear through.

DS1 begged me for knitted socks a couple of years ago. I found some lovely blue, green and orange flusi the sock monster yarn for him. He wore them 3 times, then decided he hated them.

I should really hunt for them for DS2.

They are 44% cotton 38% modal rest polyester and elastane. Sorry I did not look in the mens dept, but I looked in the childrens and there were no seamless socks. One point to watch for is that they do several 'ultimate comfort' ladies 3 packs but only one type has a seamless design. I'll try to look next visit.
An odd thing to get excited about I know - but those who have children with sensory issues related to sock seams will understand!!
I had a wonderful pair of socks knitted for me by an elderly lady and they fitted so well.

That's a shame. Probably too high a synthetic content for me to tolerate.

I think Modal is semi natural in that is made from wood like rayon. Its supposed to be softer, more absorbant and smoother than cotton. I will admit that when I bought the first pack some weeks ago (before ds borrowed a pair) I though modal was a special cotton as I have to be careful. The socks do not go hard and cardboardy when overdried (not much risk of that presently) like normal cotton sports socks - ds is soo fussy.

I have just realised that I think these are what I am wearing right now (!) and they are very comfy. THey're not very long which may suit some and not others!!

Oh, it is, too - it's rayon.

Sounds like it starfish - they are a bit short for winter for my taste (drafty house) but very comfortable. Length seems to work on ds -he is just under 5ft.I doubt he would sit still long enough to notice a draft!

Aha! There are also black ultimate comfort mens socks too. Only the smaller 6-8.5 size in my local Sainsburys and without the thickened sole. Might suit your ds Trout!

I'm learning to knit, thanks to Poltergoose - it's a slow process

I'm taking it slowly, Poltergoose I have a tendency to want to run before I can walk, so I'm practicing each step over and over so that I can do a good job on my first piece.
