Self-medicating for what? (I think Leonie's gone for the night)

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 22/03/2013 23:05

Pain my suggestion would be paracetamol. Which is next to crap. Sore throat what I always found helped when bf was a dissolvable paracetamol in hot honey & lemon. NOT the actual ready made Lemsip drinks though because they have a decongestant in that comes through in your bm.

StarlightMcKenzie · 22/03/2013 23:08

Thanks. I'm talking about depression - lol.

Paracetamol is even more crap than usual....... Smile

Ah, I did wonder about St. John's wort too...

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 23/03/2013 09:33

St. John's wort unless you are on other medications. There are some meds you can't take it in conjunction with.

Also, I know this sounds a bit woo, but bergamot essential oil in an oil burner.

(Used to be an aromatherapist.)

And vitamin D AND a calcium tablet. And a good multivitamin, that has Zinc and Magnesium in.

Marmite is good :) plenty of vit b's thiamin and niacin B1, B2, B3 and B12 plus folic acid. Its also gluten free for those that have issues with it.

Then you need magnesium which helps your body store thiamin and carbohydrates.

Bread eat bread too! there is one I buy the kids from warburtons and it is rounds with milk and calcium. Makes a wicked home made mini pizza base under the grill)

Vit C again the other vits help absorbtion of this and iron..

so marmite on toast, crumpets, calcium pizzas with either marmite first then cheese or pepperoni lol! Eggs benedict for iron at breakfast and a carton of pure orange juice.

Oh and I located soya milk shake in vanilla, chocolate and cappucino (nice with ice!) which has vit D in and lactose free so wont upset little one!

chocolate definately chocolate!

stew/soup

fresh butternut squash roasted with thyme
sweet potato
greens and spinach shredded like noodles

Tinned for cheat
peas
carrots I find carrots take FOREVER when I want a quick soup.

diced red onion

chicken or beef stock (the jelly ones are nice if you got no homemade.

ALL sliced ALL in the pan in one go and all simmered in 20 mins.

I blend for DD as she hates veg but will eat it this way. And the rest of us have it with crusty wholemeal. I live on it as well as the marmite lol

sometimes I add bacon, sometimes I add leftover chicken and sometimes I even add sausages (cooked separate first then added diced) oh and mini pasta wheat shapes just a few.
