I wonder if anyone doing ABA in South Devon area would PM or answer here?

Some pals of mine are moving there, and firstly they need tutors but secondly they are wanting to set up an ABA school!

it's me!! it's me!! send them my way! We are in Kingsbridge, we run a VB programme and we are the only family in the South Hams area. I can help with tutors. There is another family in Paignton doing a programme for two teenagers. I think there is also a VB family in Exmouth. We are also thinking of setting up a free school, problem is lack of families wanting an alternative provision to special schools so it would be great to talk to you friends! I'll PM you my email x

It was so encouraging to see Lighthouse School in Leeds opening with seven pupils. We really need a school here, the situation in South Devon is dire. The only special school within 20 miles is an unmitigated disaster, head recently suspended for failing to safeguard pupils, police investigation, the lot. We took DS out (he is 9) after a year and a term, after he had spent his days lolling about in sensory rooms and baking biscuits. We are now home educating. The thing is with this particular special school (and probably so many others), so many families see the fab resources, the hydrotherapy pool, the rebound room, the purpose built language & communication wing, the home economics classroom and the 'caring and nurturing ethos' and think great, I can feel the love, he will thrive here. It's hard to be the only one shouting 'this is bollocks!' so good to get some new blood in. Smile

Beautifully put Drowning and so true of so much special education.
Well meaning but utterly ineffectual and a poor preparation for life.
How is Lighthouse doing?
Anyone know?
