the school have said they will put in for a statement for DS having been advised by EP to do so.

If the school are refused by LEA for statement, can I then request one, or is that it and we have to mudle along with inadequate provision forever?

if the school puts in the request that is considered more supportive to your case, BUT you gotta be careful if the school is messing you about. I put in the request from my side and timelimits were seriosuly adhered to. so always do it yourself...I suggest but imp to keept the school onboard

It depends on the school. MY DS has ASD and the school have been very supportive and the SENCO has driven it. We are awaiting for the LEA to give us a case worker, who i will then get in contact with to show that i support the school. I think it helps with the statement if the school and parents show a united front, but of course that all depends on the school - I know am very lucky in my situation. Hope it goes well. My advice is take time over filling out the forms, get as much supporting information as possible. Good luck!
