Hello everyone I just want to apologise if I offended anyone yesterday. In retrospect it might have been better to have complained directly to the nas instead of coming on here anyway sorry if I came across as belittling anyone's difficulties. As I have said before mnsn is the only place ihaveever felt listened to

Oh no Autumnsmum don't worry, it was a good healthy debate and we are all big girls on here!

I think yesterday's thread just happened to coincide with one of "those" days for a number of MNetters. The point you made about even the NAS not being fully inclusive of all members of the spectrum was spot on.

The combo of constant worry, years of sleep deprivation, social isolation in RL etc means we'll all have "off" days occasionally, especially as so many have to keep up a good front of the sprogs.

I prescribe a round of G&T's over at the Goose & Carrot on the new chat thread Grin.

I read your thread ( I was a bit late coming) I dont think you said anything wrong. There are less severly autistic children and I think its very isolating. Its natural to want to meet parents with similar children.

emmetbrown · 18/03/2013 19:47

I don't think you did at all. It was a very valid point you made. I think the NAS does tend to focus on the high functioning range of the spectrum. And sometimes you just want to share experiences with others that are in a simular place to you. :)

Yey to the round of g&t's! No to the needs for apology. Some excellent points were made.

MareeyaDolores · 18/03/2013 20:39

Don't worry. I reckon we're old and ugly enough Wink to cope with a few sibling quarrels, and would personally agree with boch's post about yesterday perhaps being 'one of those days'. It was definitely one of them for me anyway!

MareeyaDolores · 18/03/2013 20:43

and (though it hasn't happened yet) personally I'd cope a lot better with someone else with a SN dc suggesting I have it relatively easy than when it comes from the sodding ignorant bds helpful folk whose dc have simply been blessed with perfect health and optimal neurology are doing so well purely thanks to their upbringing

Hi I think it was a really good point, I think I said I had the same feeling a bit at a post diag support group. I think I will give them some further feedback on it as I thought at the time they would think I was nit picking but in fact if you had a very severely affected child you would be hoping to meet at least one other who could relate to you. I hope no one falls out over this, because this board is fab for info.
