ASD diagnosis meeting - help me make most of it please

Tomorrow we have appt with the paediatrician at which 8yo DS's disagnosis of ASD (Asperger's) will be formalised. (We were given a diagnosis 3 months ago but it couldn't be formalised because not all the reports were in from school etc.) Given how long you have to wait between each appointment, I am desperate to make the most of this one, and get as much support agreed to as possible. I get a strong impression from these threads that parents really have to fight for everything, and sometime support/interventions aren't just 'offered up' straight away. The trouble is, as I'm so new to this, I'm not sure what I should be asking for!! If anyone could offer advice on how to get the most out of this appt I would be so grateful. Any thoughts on what you wished you'd be told yourself in advance of your DC's diagnosis meeting, and what you wished you'd asked for earlier. I know everyone's situation is so different but it would still be great to hear!

referral for SALT input, OT if needed and to stay on books (rather than be discharged) to allow opportunity for another appointment with Paeds in case needs change further down the line? I'm sure others will come up with more suggestions. Good luck.

Thanks handywoman! It hadn't even ocurred to me that we might be discharged so soon. Forewarned is forearmed - thank you!
