So confused......ASD or Dyspraxia or both

We're in the diagnosis process for what we thought could be aspergers & possible adhd, we have our 1st paed appointment at the end of this month. I'd say our DS is definetly high functioning but a lot of traits have lessened & many people don't think theres not an issue but myself & his teacher are convinced that there is.
Anyway after doing some research, i stumbled across the Dyspraxia foundation web page & read the symptoms for 3-5 year olds. Oh my god, Blushit was like someone had written a list on all my sons symptoms & behaviours. He ticked every box except one. So now im thinking have i got the symptoms confused? Or could he have both but if so wouldn't his traits be more severe. So bloody confused now. I know he'll be diagnosed one way or the other eventually but feel a little bit lost again.

In my area dyspraxia seems to get "bundled" into an ASD diagnosis & not given seperately if social communication issues are present.

I personally don't like it as DS's dad is Aspie & an ex-sniper, so obviously has none of the issues that torment DS. The pedant in me still thinks they should seperate the diagnoses out for clarity. I think it it's connected with the fact that around here a dyspraxia diagnosis seems to bring with it zero support, whereas the LA has a dedicated ASD outreach team inc an OT.

OT for dyspraxia type stuff on the state seems to be as rare as hens teeth.

DS1 was dx with Aspergers in 2009, and referred to the PT and OT for some work on his balance issues. Fast forward to 2013, DS is now dx with Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. When I asked the paed why she hadn't dx him with dyspraxia back then, she said that she felt we had enough to contend with. If I had known what I know now, we could have got him statemented back then with the double dx. Grrrrrr. He is being finally Statutory Assessed now.

Hi we got dx of ASD, dyspraxia and learning difficulties. I think our paed was very good, she basically said that she had given him the additional dx so that we had what we needed to ensure school recognised all the additional support he needs and not just the social communication side. We also have a referral to the OT.
