DD is almost 3, has Down's and moderate deafness, so communicates mainly through sign.
Her lovely nursery have been amazing since she started part time 2 years ago. Upon learning her hearing was getting worse, they sent a couple of their staff on a signing course, at their expense & have been enthusiastically using with DD since.
DH went to collect DD yesterday, and noticed a v. Excited little girl come rushing over to her dad to show her the sticker she had won. When he asked her what for, she proudly told him because she had learnt the most signs. It turns out the staff have been teaching all the kids in the room she is about to go into how to sign, through daily games, so that DD can communicate with them.
