Could use honks - Bee in hospital

Bee is pretty poorly right now - she was admitted to the hospital direct from her weekly hospital appointment this morning.

We don't know her if it is another blood infection or influenza (she has no resp symptoms, but the last time she had influenza, it attacked her bone marrow instead of the respiratory tract, and her bloodwork looks similar this time) but she is very quiet and listless - there is talk of needing blood products before the night is through.

She was supposed to be having 3 surgical procedures done in a fortnight, but it seems that might be shelved right now. She has been out of hospital since October (when she was a month and a half in) and all she needed to do was hold out 13 more days.

I am crestfallen Sad

Thank you for all the honks and positive thoughts. We had a long night last night, but Bee is in pretty good spirits this morning watching her favourite DVDs. I am crossing my fingers that we are able to work on a plan today - but had a very productive chat with the attending last might and feel less unsettled about the entire thing.

I will continue to update as we learn more.

Thanks again. We already have results from all the blood cultures - Bee has a systemic blood infection (again). She is responding a bit, but still has a fever and her blood counts are getting worse. Nothing to do now but be patient and wait for the antibiotincs and antifungals to kick in.

The infection is bacterial, but the last time she had an infection like this, treating the bacteria allowed a fungal infection to emerge that nearly took her from us. Because of that, they are treating her with both drug classes.

She is miserable right now. Feeling very poorly, but won't/can't sleep. Needless to say, I am a little tired myself.
