Visited the school, its AS SS with tons of therapy provision, teaching mostly 1:1 and integration offered with an outstanding mainstream school locally. Considering my DSs primary needs and speech and language and social skills I am torn between this school and a S&L SS.

Anyone that knows about a child that goes there or been to the school? Any information, good or bad, about the school are very welcomed please.

I don't know that school, but what is meant by integration?

I have seen similar and integration is just PE and some art. It seemed a bit token-gestury!

I think I would want to hear that integration was for social skills development at least partly and depending on how much really was happening in the linked mainstream I might want to visit that also, just to be certain it was more than an illusion.

thanks Star. The school is in South West London, near Richmond Park and Priory Hospital.

Integration is being evaluated on a daily basis and to the child's ability; lessons being agreed between MS teacher and SS teacher so that if something is more complex for the child to grasp in MS will be broken down in SS.

There are social groups run within the SS school as well as some with MS. Good point about visiting the MS thanks.

To be honest, integration is tricky, although is offered even at DSs current placement he only integrates for PE, art, science...the rest is taught in the unit as almost all unit kids dont learn anything when integrating.
