How do I prep up for a tribunal against LEA for refusal to assess? I do not think I can hire a lawyer...I do have soemone advising me right now...but can I do it myself? How to start prepping? Who has done this particular tribunal themselves? Kindly help.

I did part 2 3 and 4 by myself and won an independent school placement.

The best piece of advice is evidence everything. Follow up any phone calls with an email and print it out.

Take a look at the SEN code of practice and point out all the areas that you believe apply in your case that the LA are ignoring and give supportive evidence of why these apply (ie any reports you have that identify some of the areas that your DC has difficulty with). Don't be put off. I put in tribunal paperwork myself for refusal to assess and again to appeal a note in lieu, and both times the LA backed down without a hearing. I did finally look for legal help to challenge the final statement though, but mostly because I have many other things going on in life right now and don't have the emotional capacity to do it alone this time.
