Just received a copy of report today. Ds has been out of school with school anxiety, self harm and suicidal thoughts since June.

*Under facilities and resources she has recommended

Ds needs carefully planned transition to return to an educational setting.

Autism friendly environment and differentiated curriculum to met his language and social needs. Picture or photograph to support spoken instructions.

Structured programmes to develop his social/play skills

Ds's learning plan should be informed by ASD outreach and SALT.

Skelton structures/writing frameworks

Key verbal information highlighted by coloured pens

Build his motor skills

Help to manage his emotions and deal with worries and anxieties. Get advice from CAMHS.*

I was really hoping for more. She does give schools perspective of 'doing fine in school' and mine. Then in her summary school reports he settled, mum reports he has many worries and fears relating to school. Then basically that during the assessment she was struck by his changed physical appearance since she last saw him, he looked pale, tired and was extremely anxious. She was only able to complete 4 subtests with him before he broke down in tears and was unable to continue.

The LA EP reports never tend to be that detailed as if needs are identified then they need to put in provision to meet those needs. I had a private report done and the difference was absolutely staggering. It is good that she has noticed some detoriation but I wold probably feel like you, that it could have gone further in detail and the help that he needs. Are there going to be any more reports?

Ive already had an indi EP report and as you say, he went into far more detail. He also recommended updated SALT and OT assessments as part of the SA.

Even though LA EP is recommending that ds needs "learning plan informed by SALT" there has been no SALT assessment as part of the SA or OT.

Also does anyone know what "Skelton structures/writing frameworks" is? Ive tried googling, but cant find anything

Hi Claw - this might be useful. It's an Australian curriculum support guide but has a section on skeleton writing which might be what is meant.

Quite anodyne. Was she just the registrar?

Time to add something about school working with parent?

MareeyaDolores · 05/03/2013 22:52

New highlighters like these should sort out the self harm anyway

Thanks Alias, the link doesnt seem to be working for me.

Mareey, she was an Educational Psychologist. Sorry again, but im not seeing how a pen, is going to sort out the self harm?
