Can we talk about MNSN, and the community/support/chat etc?

This thread may not be a good idea. I am severely sleep deprived (ds has decided yet again that sleep is for the weak, and I have had about 4 hours sleep since Sunday), and had the morning from hell getting dd2 off on a school trip - change of routine, needed ot wear tracksuit not uniform, different drop off/pick up - you all know the score. If you all think it is a bad idea, please feel free to report and have it deleted.

Anyway.

Can we have a thread where we try to sort out some of the perceived isues with MNSN?

I keep seeing, on the main boards, posts saying that MNSN is not suportive. That some faces don't fit. That it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Fine. I get that not everybody is the same, and may not want the same things form this board as me, or other posters. But it isn't really said here, and so we don't reallt get right of reply.

It's a bit like talking about us behind our backs.

I know there have ben disagreements and differences over the years. I have been part of some of them, but on the whole I thought we muddled through quite well - expcially given that we are all under a reasonable amount of stress most of the time, and that we all face fairly different challenges on a daily basis.

So - what do people want form MNSN? Is there anything we (as a community) can do to welcome people who feel left out? Anythign we can do to help posters who lurk rather than post?

I am rather hoping htis might be a moving forward discussion, rather than a re-hash of any he said/she said grievances. BUt as I said earlier, maybe this is entirely misguided. Sorry if it is.

Wait a minute - Nebulous, I never said you could take your wine with you! It would make a lovely gravy.

thereonthestair · 07/03/2013 19:06

Now I love my wine, and I don't mind at all that there are a lot of asd/ADHD threads. I am just jealous!

TheNebulousBoojum · 07/03/2013 19:06

So you can have wine in food?
Have you tried mulled wine? I drink it through the winter, not just for Christmas.

thereonthestair · 07/03/2013 19:07

Mulled wine is guaranteed to give me a migraine..... But is it worth trying anyway

bialystockandbloom · 07/03/2013 19:09

The thing that really shocks me here is that coffee doesn't drink either Shock

I think it's cos you live in Cornwall or summat but i picture you as tanned with sun-streaked blonde hair (in plaits?), gingham shirt knotted at the waist, on Polzeath beach with beer in your hand.

Is that anything like the reality? Grin

I want wine Sad I am trying to work. Will you all bloody well keep the noise down.

God you are so selfish and cliquey with your talk of wine and food.

inappropriatelyemployed · 07/03/2013 19:10

No scrub that I want to be in Cornwall Sad Coff can you put us up for a holiday?

lougle · 07/03/2013 19:10

Don't swear at me! I can smell cinnamon from 1000 paces.

In fact, I had a cup of tea at a cafe, and it was served with a biscuit. I nibbled the edge of it and said 'errrgh that's got cinammon in it.' My Dad was with me and he looked at me like Hmm because he'd eaten his and hadn't sensed it at all (he's a real foodie).

I looked at the packaging...cinnamon Grin

If cinnamon is ever sold as an illicit drug - I'm your sniffer dog Wink

Mull your own and add orange juice, there are dozens of delicious recipes.

bialystockandbloom · 07/03/2013 19:12

Nebulous that is great about your ds Smile

My ds has also had an extraordinary turnaround with food - in the last week he has asked to try sugar snap peas, spaghetti bolognese (hates tomatoes), butter (hasn't eaten it since he was 1) and toast (ditto) Shock

Maybe it's some planetary realignment or something.

See, nobody loves me... Everybody hates me...

I think I'll go and eat worms!

TheNebulousBoojum · 07/03/2013 19:16

I think it's also that his mates at college don't mind, care or even notice weird.
So he relaxes, tries something and if he doesn't like it, there's always a starving teenager to clear up any leftovers.
They are also good at sharing tastes in a thoroughly unhygienic way, usually grubby fingers.

inappropriatelyemployed · 07/03/2013 19:17

I like bumptious. I was called that when I started practising by some old drunken lawyer who was the local king of the magistrates court.

Too effing right mate, I am BUMPTIOUS Grin

Galena · 07/03/2013 19:18

You really think so, Maryz?! When it comes to wine my grip is nigh on unbreakable!

bochead · 07/03/2013 19:20

I have a naice blue whistling kettle & some jerimiah weed jars whose only purpose in life is for mulled wine Wink It's become a bit of a habit if you turn up at mine like a drowned rat with a bottle of cheap red plonk in the winter months Grin. Being of West Country extraction mulled cider works for me too. A glug goes in the slow cooker to season the stew & dumplings if there's any left over.

I got given one of those wilko winemaking kits for Xmas. Never used one in my life, & as it makes 6 bottles I'm a bit concerned as to how long I'll be stuck with the stuff if it doesn't mull well.

What's really gorg' but I haven't had since long before DS is mulled mead.

I lost track of the thread & deletions etc a while ago, if ever there was a reason to avoid facebook it's been amply demonstrated by now methinks.

lougle · 07/03/2013 19:21

DD1 is on the way down with food Sad Her nose is starting to get sharp lines when she smiles again. Her ribs are starting to show more again, too. She didn't eat her evening meal at all tonight.

bialystockandbloom · 07/03/2013 19:22

Obstreperous and truculent are good too imo not that I've ever been called that oh no

hazeyjane · 07/03/2013 19:23

Throws a 'Tossers' hand grenade into the thread, just to stir it up a bit.

bialystockandbloom · 07/03/2013 19:24

God teenage boys are gross, aren't they Grin

hazeyjane · 07/03/2013 19:24

and please, please don't mention cider, or i will vomit over the whole thread, and one of you will have to hold my hair back while I do it.
