Mistake taking DS shopping today

Well today i decided to be brave and take DS shopping.

He was ok apart from not wanting to sit next to me on the bus and when we went in the Game shop he was fine.

BUT when i wanted to go in a well known shop. you know the one that sells the Per-Una range of womens clothing that was it.

"This shop stinks and there are too many Old Bids in here"" he said Shock

A few were tutting and glaring so i glared back and when he sat down on a display and squeezed his nose saying "stinks stinks" i didnt know what to do so we went home Sad

Is it always going to be this way, am i never going to be allowed to go shopping with him?
I find it really sad especially cos i am building a bond with him while he is at home and not at school.

I don't know if this will make you feel better. but it is "normal" for kids to mess about whaen you take them shopping ds who is now 14 has always been a pain.... and he is sn. I think they are all just programmed to hate it unless it is for them:o

That goes for men as well 2shoes, my dp starts complaining when we walk straight into the first shop.

Jenk, how long does the home tutor stay for, is it long enough for you to get out for a couple of hours, or do you have to hang around when she's there?

coppertop · 03/05/2006 16:55

Have you tried alternating between a shop for you and then a shop for ds? It seems to make it more bearable for ds1 if he knows that he'll be going somewhere he likes next.

Sadly it doesn't work on dh though, the miserable bugger.

PinkKerPlink · 03/05/2006 16:57

I'm sorry about this jenk, but he does have a point Wink

macwoozy, im not allowed to leave the house when the home tutor comes-believe me i would if i could!!!

CT, that was my plan today, a shop for him and then one for me, well we did the 1st one for him and then he didnt want to know mine!!!!

And to make him happier beforehand i scoured the town for a bakery which sold Spongebob little cakes!!!

Some good news on the home tutor front though, they rang me this afternoon to tell me that DS can have another 2 hours how, so he gets 4 hours a week but, its a different tutor Sad

That would probably not be the right situation for DS but im not going to complain, im happy that finally he has got something.

Have emailed our private psych today and told him what happened.

He said from now on if we want to take DS shopping or on a day out that we have to give him plenty of notice-like a couple of days and to try and show him pictures beforehand and tell him exactly where, when and for how long.

So, either we do that every time or i go out without him.

how old is he? do u think he got a bit embarrased by the underwear and was using the smell to distract?

sorry have no experiance with boys over 3

MerlinsBeard · 03/05/2006 19:45

oooh sorry, u didn't even say underwear!!!

jenk1 · 03/05/2006 22:12

Christie, thats a really good suggestion, where did you get the logo from to do that?

mumofmonsters - underwear had me ROFL!!!!

No, i think he was over stimulated by all the different smells, noises, lights and worse of all to him "OLD BIDS" Grin

OLD BIDS are his pet hate at the moment, he thinks why should people move out of the way for them when they dont move out of the way for him?

Got my work cut out with this one!!!
