having to watch the rescue rangers YET AGAIN!

Even though there are 3 disks I have had enough of the bloody rescue rangers! We have 'had' to watch it since Christmas... It is doing my head in!

I'm hoping it is won't be as long as the others...

Age 18m-3 was Toy story
3-4.10 was shrek (and puss in boots)

What DVDs/programs have your DCs driven you crazy with?

some bright spark me insisted we got Netflix

the music to 'Back to the Barnyard' has me wibbling and sobbing now

My Dd3 is 10 and she started before she was 2 with Come Outside for about 12 months,

Then it was Toy story,

Then High School Musical 1,2 and 3 had to be watched in sequence [nearly drove me over the edge]

Then it was Horrid Henry, all after school activities stopped and we had to virtually run home for this delight.

Then Tracy Beaker, good old Tracy is still with us, interspersed by cooking programs and Helicopter Hero type programs.

My advice to you dinky's mummy, buy a tablet and you can Mumsnet while pretending to really enjoy the current favourite and never, ever think that you have any right to the TV remote.

ear defenders are your friend - they might be a bit tight but they do filter out those noises

I can say, with a huge sigh of relief, that ds1 is phobic of feature films, so has never watched a movie-type dvd endlessly.

He did favour certain dvds and videos - yes we still have a vcr thanks to ds1 - but fortunately, there were enough of them that rotation made it just about bearable.

Those I recall are:

The box set of Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley

Lunar Jim (asked for and had the entire range of toys for that as well, but never once played a game with them )

Then, once he was old enough to realise he could play endless series of kids tv on the Virgin catch-up and on-demand packages he went through:

These days, it's Pokemon, Star Wars the Clone Wars and Total Wipeout - all available on-demand - ad-infinitum!

From eight until ... Um .... Two months ago.

Now it's Mythbusters, which is entirely tolerable.

Yeah, we've had Pingu too.

Moose mama, ds1 has only just started accepting films as something he might enjoy. And he never enjoys the first watching! Now he will watch Kung Fu Panda, and some of the Pokemon films. He is nearly ten, and this has only developed in the past six months or so.

In the night garden then toy story and now he's gone back to in the night garden grrrrrrrr
Igglepiggle never sleeps,makkapakka has obsessive routines,they all squeal and none of them talk .... So I'm beginning to think DS doesn't have autism he's just auditioning to be a character on in the night bloody garden :)

We are into year 2 of a Pingu obsession (or "Doo-doo" as DS calls him!). I have to say, I'm rather fond of the little guy, and I think DS has great taste .

why is though, that in the midst of these wonderful obsessions that we cheerfully endure for our offspring, the minute you start to hum the theme tune DD goes into a flying rage telling me i've ruined it

Yes Pingu a solid favourite for the last three years with a bit of Toy Story and Cars. He went through a phase of Shaun the Sheep insisting on watching it but the theme music makes him cover his ears and cry (not good because each episode is 5 minutes ) so lots of crying then 5 minutes being engrossed.
He's fond too of Wallace and Gromit which I quite enjoy (for now)

Colditz, ds is getting there now. His overwhelming desire to be included at school and to actually see the Star Wars films instead of just the Clone Wars cartoons and Lego DS games got the better of him last year. I bought him the original trilogy and we watched them all together during the summer holidays.

He's also managed Up and Despicable me. He'll watch black and white musicals with me, but has a real problem with Disney/Pixar stuff.

It started with a bad experience with the titles of Ice Age when he was about 18 months (friend ex-friend put it on a projector screen and cranked up the volume then thought it was funny when ds got distressed - we left and haven't seen them since. ) Then my oh-so-clever anti-establisment dh told him Disney was an evil corporation, repeatedly from about the age of three and that stuck as a firm rule for him. He's horrified that Disney has bought his beloved Star Wars franchise.

With most films he tells me he can't bear the fact that they are all building up to something 'happening' towards the end, but you can't tell what that 'something' is going to be. He also says a lot of films are about loss and he can't cope with loss on any level. Lord knows how he managed to cope with Up, but they watched in on a school residential and he was given the option to go and play a boardgame with the teachers in another room but refused. I was so proud of him for managing to watch the whole thing.

Hmmm...we are on year 4 of Victorian farm :)
But the days of balamory are over thank god.

I quite enjoy the programmes ds likes so it works out well.
Ds is so funny.
ATM he is into singing the skipper part of the musical episode. It's hilarious! He even does the dance moves.
