Positive statement review today

Had my dd's statement review today, it was really positive but I did find one thing disappointing although not at all the school's fault. The statement states she needs speech therapy work which the school are doing their best to fulfill. However she is meant to have a speech and language therapist visit her in school, we were told this at her last speech therapy session ( as they are no longer seeign her indenpently) out of school). However this has not happened, the school are on the case and are chasing this for all the children this is meant to be happening for but are gettign nowhere.

Jst think it is a real shame that she had such a great review but this is not beingfulfilled.

If part of the statement is not being met you need to contact the LA and chase it with them yourself. It's the LA's responsibillity to provide a speech therapist.

How do I go about that? The school are implementing something but like they said they are not trained speech therapists so can only do their best.

And I also know the school have been chasing this too and just get told they are recruiting as they are thin on the ground!!! How do I go about chasing it with the LA?

Thanks in advance and thanks ofr the previous reply.

Get a quote from private SLT which covers what's in the statement. Send it to LA asking are they going to provide it themselves, or would they prefer to route the funding via the school or parent.

Beware though. School (or visiting professional) might suddenty produce evidence of recent progress, showing SLT won't be needed any more v
