Anyone had a appointment with CAHMS?

I have dds final specialist appointment with CAHMs Tuesday for ASD any experience? What should I expect to happen? Should I take dd?

I'm in a very similar position to you crawling so I don't have advice but i'm sending lots of positive vibes your way.

Are you expecting a diagnosis at the appointment then?

Thanks sweetteamum I dont know what to expect really I know she was referred to be assessed by the ADOS panel (I think thats what it was) but Im not sure if he will diagnose. When is your appointment?

Ah, so is she due to have the ados or has she had the ados and this is the feedback/diagnosis appointment ?

DD had the ados 2 weeks ago now. We went back for a WISC assessment at the weekend, and i'm due to get feedback/diagnosis this week sometime - I have asked for a phone call though, as I have an appointment on Friday that will be influenced by the diagnosis.

She is due to have it done so im not sure if he will do the test then give me the results or whether it will go before a panel of SALT Ed pych and dev pead or whether he just diagnosis.

Fingers crossed for your diagnosis.

Hopefully someone more experienced than me will be along soon - I only have my experience :)

If you've had all other reports done, this may be the final assessment to bring everything together. You may get basic feedback on the day but I guess it depends on your particular CAMHS - everyone seems to have different experiences.

Hi Crawling, my Ds had initial appointment, ADOS appointment (didn't get any feedback), ADI-R appointments for me and Dh to give our input regarding or Ds's difficulties (split over 2 appointments), then final appointment which involved going through all info and Ds's Dx.

We didn't have any other reports to help with the assessment process so it was from scratch really.
