Quick question about statement

Hi quick question. My son's statement was applied for through school. When (okay if, but I like to be positive and I think he will get it) the LA send the draft statement, will it go via school or will we get a copy direct as parents too?

Oh and thanks everyone who joined in the discussion about special schools and maintstream etc. You gave me so much to think about. It's all whirring around in my head right now! Visiting schools this week :-)

You will get a copy too, but it will go to the schools the LA chooses to consult at the same time.

Don't forget, you can name any maintained school.

Oh okay. At the moment we haven't named a school, I thought we did that bit when the draft statement comes out?

Yes, you do. Just bear in mind that it doesn't have to be the school your DS currently attends if you don't think that's the best setting for him.

Thanks lougle, that is the million dollar question! It was me that sparked the debate on the SENCO lady in the shop yesterday about special vs mainstream etc. Gave me lots to think about. Then I had a panic about when I should actually name the school lol but you have reassured me. For now. Sure I will think of more things to stress about, specially once I have visited other schools this week!!
