If dd doesnt get the support I feel she needs I may consider this instead of her struggeling without support can people who have chosen this path talk me through the positives and negatives?

There is a fantastic HE group on fb with loads of advice and support. Just type home education into the fb search bar to find it. i am on it, just in case I need to as well.
