Quick very basic question re appeal forms

Hi

Not that I'm paranoid or anything, but I have decided to download and prep the appeal forms, just in case we don't get the result we want tomorrow. I want to be quick off the mark if needs be.

I've been on the SENDIST site and notice you can either have a pdf or word document.

It says to complete the form in black ink and capital letters - I assume typing it is ok, hence the word version?

Oh yes. You can type it.

Very sensible to have viewed the forms before the decision. It makes the next step not so scary if you are prepared.

Thanks Star.

I thought you would be able to type it, but was worried that if I got it wrong, it would end up wasting time.

I read all the forms and booklets/advice etc well over a year ago, when we were considering appealing the content of the statement, but my swiss cheese brain has forgotten much of it and if we have to, we're appealing something else this time, so I felt the need to be prepared.

I panicked when I read this

"the local authority refused to name an independent school or non-maintained school (these are schools which are not maintained by the local authority and which normally charge fees) or a different type of school (for example, a special school when your child currently goes to a mainstream school or the other way around) where you have asked for a change to part 4 in a statement that was at least a year old."

But then read their fact-sheet on appealing schools and it clearly states they will accept appeals for independent schools as long as the school has agreed they have a place for the child. Of course I don't know as yet what the school's response was to the LEA asking them if they would be named ...

I hate, hate, hate, being in the dark like this. Pretty sure we won't get the amended statement for another week or so, but dh is going to call them tomorrow and ask if they will tell us which school is being named. They did tell us he'd got the statement when we called on the deadline to ask and also were happy to email us the first draft, but I think it very much depends who answers the phone. Hmm
