Hellish week

Ds has been ill with an ear infection and has refused to take his antibiotics and will hardly eat anything. Everything has become a battle and he's spent most of the past two days punching and kicking me. It's always difficult when he's ill but this has been especially bad. With how much he's been awake at night it's been like looking after a newborn all over again. He should be alright for school on Monday but I feel like I've lost control of him. On top of that I've found out that I'm losing my job. Not sure what I'm after here but just wanted a rant without being judged! Anyone else have similar struggles with children with asd?

Oh, poor you. Sounds like everything is kicking off at once.

How old is DS?

Wine Brew Thanks and whatever else you need.

Sounds like a hellish week indeed. Ds1 is a nightmare when he's ill as well, we don't get the punching and kicking, but sleep deprivation plus constant ranting and medicine refusal I can relate to. He's asthmatic and I have spent all afternoon trying to get him to use his inhaler, while he bursts my eardrums with a deafening cough every few seconds and we haven't had one night of unbroken sleep this week between him and ds2's night pain.

Hope things improve over the weekend and you can get some rest when he's back at school next week.

Pop into the Friday night thread when someone starts it later and share some virtual wine and chocolate with us - it's not much, but it helps.

((hugs))

He's 6. Ironically I'm off work this week on holiday and was really looking forward to a nice relaxing week of catching up on Netflix etc! He's on the mend but it's his behaviour which has really upset me. I'm fed up of battling over every little thing.

I feel your pain babe Sad

Dd3 really struggles with medicine, we have screaming, vomitting, down right refusal. It is a nightmare.

It is really hard when they are ill. They spend so much time trying to cope with life through all their sensory issues etc, that when they are poorly they just can't keep it together anymore and everything falls to pieces.

Ds1 is always so much worse when he's ill, as you said, every little thing becomes a battle and on top of sleep deprivation it's exhausting.

What a pain that it happened on your week off as well.

Poor you. flying Boy has had a rubbish week too but its not in the same leauge as when he was small. Mind, when I had an ear infection, it hurt so much all I wanted to do was kick and scream as well.

Hope it all gets better soon.

Thank you all. Was feeling a bit emotional and needed to vent. If he'd taken his antibiotics I'm sure he'd be 100% by now. Don't thing it's sunk in about my job yet either. Sure it'll all seem better in the morning. Thanks again all, it's just what I needed.
