Anyone in Nottinghamshire - Need some advice

DS (4.10, ASD) Currently in MS reception with 15 hrs of 1-2-1 support. These
hours were allocated through the family of schools and he was awarded middle rate needs. (We are in Nottinghamshire.)

Fast forward to now... DS is making some progress with the help of his excellent TA, and school are generally on board. However I am very aware that school are very keen to keep me on side and I believe there is lots of "telling me what they think I want to hear" going on. A situation arose last week and I now feel it's time to decide whether to fight for better provision.

I really don't want to go into too much detail about the situation on here, and
I understand how to get the ball rolling with applying for SA, but would be
grateful if anyone who has been through the process of applying for a statement in Notts would be happy to chat with me.

I'm interested in speaking to anyone who has a child in ms with a statement.

Im sorry I cant help. Same area but we have not tried for statement. DD at school action +. I guess you know the % statements is tiny and even less for ms here. Most are for ss. The only people I know with a statement in ms have a physical impairment or have had a tremendous fight with refusals, appeals and lots of evidence. I can't offer any advice as we have not taken that route but didn't want you to think noone was listening.

Yes, I'm aware the odds are against me, however I'm unhappy with our current support (not bad, just not as good as I feel it should be) so need to take action.

I'm not afraid to take the LEA on, so to speak, just unsure if it's the right course of action without first laying my cards firmly on the table with school thus jepordising the relationship we have.

The people I know who have been successful and got moves from ms to ss have had school on side. For us as there is no provision for asd without ld I have no obvious alternative to our situation = some but not much support in ms. We don't have enough evidence of failure -dd academically doing well even though struggling socially and emotionally. Honking for you...

We are in a village and our school is generally Fab, with well below average staff turnover, outstanding Ofstead, high level of pupil achievement, very positive vibe, etc etc.

However... they just don't have the experience of dealing with children with additional needs andwhilst they have the will, that's just not enough to help ds achieve his potential.

Yes we are in a village too and have a good well meaning school with limited provision. It is such a difficult situation - have you spoken to parent partnership?

A dilema it is and I don't see the point speaking to PP to be honest... doubt they can help me with this.

I'm going to mull things over for a few days and decide on a plan of action, it would have been nice to have someone from here that had gone through the process to call upon though, no matter, will find a way.
