Independant specialist school fees versus state specialist school fees

I'm just wondering if there is anyway I can find out the cost to send my child to the school.

I'm due to receive a proposed statement in March, according to the LEA SEN team, and i'm intending on naming the Independant School for my daughter, as opposed to their probable suggestion of the local specialist school.

I obviously need to go and view the state school, so I can rule it out as unsuitable when named.

However, in my list of reasons of unsuitability, I'd like to quote the costs of each (if appropriate) amongst other things.

Any points in the right direction would be very great

Independent fees if you google often find them p,us often the ousted says what they are. Specialist school - google on your LA website for the section 51 or 52 statement and the figures are usually published on there.

You can find out with FOI request. However the cost they give may be lower than true cost as they may not show other LEA costs such as ed psych. Also may argue zero cost as they regard the places as pre funded from existing budgets

Was just about to link to that document, myself - do your own adding up, though, OP, as there's a few mistakes in the columns of the finances tables.

There's also a report about the social costs of mainstream vs independent SS. It's probably worth including the whole reports and highlighting the bits that are relevant. (Not NAS, btw - it's NASS and not autism specific)

Thanks all for the links. I'll have a good look through.

Is there any amounts you would class as extreme for merseyside area. The school we're looking at doesn't seem to be overly priced. But then again, I will have a better idea once I've looked closer
