Silly thread really but I have a sister who is a primary school teacher in not so nice area so she sees some really sad things.
Anyway I have often had her tell me the best way to discipline DD (who has lots of probs, epilepsy, GDD and Hypermobility and is on a ton of drugs).
I normally say yes and no's as to methods but the bottom line is I can discipline ie saying no and moving on to distraction until I am blue in the face and because there is no follow through ie naughty steps etc (as DD does not understand this) that's all I can do.
So today I was at sisters house I was deliberately ignoring my DD opening and shutting under sink cupboard as my sister was taking it upon herself to tell DD to stop and then distracting her. This happened 4 times and then sister asked I step in, which I did immediately.
Upon having a conversation later re party I was informed by same sister that I or DH would need to stay with DD. I politely asked with a smile on my face if this was because she could not handle DD, all I met with an acknowledgment look that she finally registered the fact that discipline for my DD does not work as it would for other children.
ah cant wait to DH comes home to tell him, I know i'm a cruel beatch but I just don't care!
