How old is your DD? TBH, although mine picks up language quite nicely from apps, it's very echolalic, and often not terribly useful (she wanders around declaiming lines from classic films quite a bit, and it's HILARIOUS but doesn't get her fed for example).

DD loved bright flashcards, and would merrily learn nouns (or demonstrate that she already knew nouns) until the cows came home.

We've not managed emotions yet. We have tried, but DD has only really just got the idea of sad or hurt. She's much better with concrete things that she can see and point to (although of course, she didn't point Wink ). In Learning Language, it talks about the stages of language development, and I'm pretty sure nouns came first...I'll have a hunt when I get home.
