ASD screening help

My 11 year old son was screened for ASD by filling in those questionnaire forms. The school had to fill one out too.

I saw a doctor today to get the results but unfortunately we had to see someone else who knew none of his history and didn't bother to read the notes so it was a shambles of an appointment.

Basically he said ds scored 20 out of 40 and they are going to refer him to the ASD clinic. The doctor was total crap and really didn't explain much. He really didn't take the time to answer my questions fully and looked like he spent most of the night partying as he was yawning and stretching away and at one point looked like he was falling asleep.

Can anyone shed any light on the scoring for me and what happens at an ASD clinic?

Sadly there is no standard pathway so the 'screening' could have been little more than a kind of triage/gate-keeping session to see whether or not you should be referred.
