Oh I loved that and I only cried twice We need to remember that for the newly dx-d. Thanks

vjg13 · 19/01/2013 00:33

Blimey! Hard to watch and uplifting at the same time.

proudmum74 · 19/01/2013 06:35

I cried throughout Blush - but it's a great video!

Thanks for sharing x

Lovely, I liked the hold on to your flipping hat. :)
I'm still holding into mine

troutsprout · 19/01/2013 09:06

Aww...
Miles better than that flipping poem

blackeyedsusan · 19/01/2013 09:34

well it might be ... but I can't link to it...

actually anything is better than that poem... Grin

peggyblackett · 19/01/2013 11:08

It's made me cry loads. I'm 8.5 years on down this road, and the messages still ring true. Tis lovely

lovely

WadingThroughTreacle · 19/01/2013 11:29

Not just me who hates the poem then. If anyone sends it to me when we get diagnosis I'm going to tell them to shove it. Lol.

I don't seem to be able to get the video.

StarlightMcKenzie · 19/01/2013 16:43

But I'm up for making a video. What I'd like to see most is a caring carrot reading that blimming poem, and empowered parents, joined by their children, pelting them with spud guns or simply throwing icy water over them.

peggyblackett · 19/01/2013 19:23

WTF is the caring carrot?!

lovely video... I couldn't get it either at first but I typed 'extreme parenting video project' into search and it came up. Along with a load of horrible weird stuff which I didn't look at.

StarlightMcKenzie · 19/01/2013 19:36

Ah well. Seen it. Not really my cuppa but s'alright.

I don't believe that it is okay for everyone, or that everyone can cope with the shite that comes with having a child with a disability.

If I was holding up a placard it would say 'don't trust any professionals as they'll mostly just fuck you over'.

MammaTJ · 19/01/2013 19:56

Going to watch this when I wake in the early hours (as I alwasy do) as watching Splash now. Grin

peggyblackett · 20/01/2013 00:16

Starlight, plenty of shit being dealt with at Blackett HQ (life limited child with PMLD and epilepsy), trust me.

Sorry, that sounds abrupt (and SN top trumpy) and I don't mean it to be. It's just I could have done with a hand hold the day we were told that dd was not going to develop neurotypically. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self some of those messages. Yes, I have days which are crap and black and lonely, but knowing that I am not the only one out there dealing with it all helps.
